The Foster Barcelona Program

We have recently partnered with the Global Business Center at Foster School of Business to facilitate our study abroad experience to students from the University of Washington and Foster School of business. Giving them the oportunity to study abroad while taking many of the classes offered at their home institution, right here in Barcelona.

Who Can Participate?

The Foster program will admit up to 35 students each term (Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer). Foster students will be given priority, but other UW students are encouraged to apply. UW students will remain enrolled at UW while abroad and may use eligible financial aid and scholarships for this approved program. UW students will be joined by around 30 students from other U.S. institutions who will enroll through Portland State University.

Courses

Faculty from local Barcelona universities teach business courses approved by Foster including Foster’s core business courses and several other business electives and electives in other non-business areas of study such as political science, geography, history, art & architecture, international studies, Spanish language, etc. Consult the course offering for the term you are interested in attending. ALBA will offer at least three Foster School core courses each term. Proposed core classes include MGMT 300, MGMT 320, MKTG 301, and IBUS 300. You should speak with a Foster School Study Abroad adviser for more information as business courses are limited to Foster students. All courses are taught in English, excepting Spanish language courses.

Application Process

The application process for both Foster and non-Foster students for the 2022-2023 academic year (Summer 2022-Spring 2023) is now open. There is a two-part application outlined on the Foster School Global Business Center Website. The deadline to apply for Summer/Fall 2023 is January 31st, 2023. The deadline to apply for Winter/Spring 2024 is May 15th, 2023.

UW Foster students, as well as UW students, need to apply first through UW Foster. Only once you receive approval through UW Foster must you submit your application through to ALBA.

UW Tuition discount -$200, applied to the prices published on the ALBA dates and costs page.

Housing, airfare and cost of living are on top of the tuition fees.
