Safety First

The world is facing a very difficult situation: The threat of a virus that is demanding everyone’s full attention. At ALBA we are taking all of the necessary precautions as we continuously monitor the situation and make adjustments depending on its evolution.

Winter Term 2020

03/30/2020 – All students are safely back home in the USA.

03/23/2020 – Only one student is still in Barcelona. The ALBA staff is maintaining contact with her regularly, providing her with housing, giving her support and advice.

03/20/2020 – Two students are still in Barcelona, waiting to take their flights back home on the 23rd. The ALBA staff is maintaining contact with them regularly, providing them not only with housing, giving them support and advice.

03/19/2020 – The vast majority of the students attending ALBA for the Winter Term 2020 are safe at home. Only four students are still in Barcelona, waiting to take their flights back home in the next few days. The ALBA staff is maintaining contact with them regularly, providing them not only with housing for as long as they need, but giving them support and advice.

03/11/2020 – After President Trump’s announcement, many students decided to change their flight to leave Barcelona as soon as possible.

03/10/2020 – Following the advice of local authorities ALBA cancelled the Farewell event.

Spring Term 2020

03/30/2020 – The Global Learning Experience has started: A select group of students from the University of Washington are taking classes with ALBA from the comfort of their homes, allowing them to continue their progress towards graduating while coming in contact with an international environment by the hand of our members of faculty and staff.

03/18/2020 – We sent an email to all students, providing them with information and three alternatives. In case students choose option A or C, we require a answer by Friday the 20th of March to be able to make arrangements.

03/12/2020 – With great grief we informed students via email that our Study Abroad Program would not take place due to reasons beyond our control.

Summer Term 2020

05/07/2020Portland State University and University of Washington, have decided to cancel most study abroad programs for the Summer 2020 academic term, ALBA included, and they do not foresee that decision being reversed. Students have been provided the following options: Cancel and receive a refund, defer to another term, and/or choose our online program.

03/19/2020 – We are optimistic and continue to make arrangements for an excellent Summer Term.

We are ready to offer students our regular Study Abroad Program, as well as our online Global Learning Experience, in case necessary.

Capacity for this terms has been increased to 80 people, in order to receive students deferring from Spring Term 2020.

Fall Term 2020

03/19/2020 – We are optimistic and continue to make arrangements for an excellent Fall Term.

We are ready to offer students our regular Study Abroad Program, as well as our online Global Learning Experience, in case necessary.

Capacity for this terms has been increased to 80 people, in order to receive students deferring from Spring Term 2020.
